Beyond the Gates Mentoring

“If She Can See It. She Can Be It”. Our 12-month, One-to-One Mentoring program supports more women during their reentry journey. Beyond the Gates Mentoring trains first-time Mentors, provides peer and expert support, and matches women who have recently been released from Perryville Prison.

Release Day Pick Up

Provide safety and support for women when they are released from prison. Approximately 3300 women are released from Perryville each year. 50% have no home to return to and no family support.

Program Description:

Volunteers arrive at Perryville Prison on release day prepared to provide safe transportation, care packages, and food.

Care package includes hygiene products and clothing. Volunteer offers a much-deserved meal at a restaurant. Ensure they arrive at their parole appointment within their 24-hour requirement. Safe transportation to transitional home or shelter.

Transitions to Success

Transition to Success (TTS) is an evidence-based standard of care to treat the social determinants of health as an environmental medical condition. At Bridges Reentry and Thistle Farms, we don't ask what's wrong with you, we ask what happened to you? TTS protocols create a coordinated system of care across healthcare, human service, government, education and faith-based organizations to maximize funding streams and hold systems accountable. We aim to improve health, education, and economic self-sufficiency for the high-risk population of formerly incarcerated women.

Pen Pals

Bridges Reentry supports and promotes letter writing and card sending campaigns to over 500 incarcerated women at Perryville Prison. Some women have never received a birthday card in their lives, much less a card from a stranger.

Adtalem's Walden University HERS Program

Through its Higher Education Reentry Success (HERS) program, Walden University provides flexible, online learning opportunities to mentees and staff of Bridges Reentry. For more than 50 years, Walden has been dedicated to providing access to higher education for diverse, nontraditional learners by breaking down barriers and promoting positive social change. Walden is part of Adtalem Global Education.

Raising My Voice

Raising My Voice is a leadership training program for formerly incarcerated individuals that helps participants develop public speaking skills, prepares them to serve as advocates for effective, humane reentry policies and practices, and fosters civic engagement.
